“Vous êtes magnifique,” he breathed into her neck.
She rolled her eyes. “I think not. Skin, bones, the shape of a boy; hardly even pretty.”
“You don’t even see yourself for what you are, chéri.” He ran a hand along her side, caressing. “Hair like the sun’s rays, eyes the green of summer grass… Breasts: the foothills of the Alps, pink capped at dawn… Soft, rolling plains, the color of fresh cream,” he whispered, kissing his way down her body.
“And here, Shosanna, is a flower: a tulip, rosy in a field of white and flowing with nectar. A thing of such beauty, I can see why the Holländisch were driven mad! Shall I taste it, to see if it as sweet as it looks?” he asked as he traced the edges of her petals, spreading her as if to the sun.
“Fredrick, mon amour—ah!” Her gasps turned to moans as he lapped at her. She pulled at his hair, murmuring adorations, until she shattered, his name on her lips and black spots dancing in her vision.
